Following our call for bids at the beginning of 2009 with the aim of endorsing (a) promising research program(s) for children with Mucopolysaccharidosis (MPS), the foundation selected Dr. Adeline Lau’s molecular genetic pathology project (Australia). Dr. Lau has worked for several years with this disorder.

Her thesis director is Dr. John Hopwood, a highly recognized expert in this field. This basic research will involve continuing the work already started on central nervous system regeneration through derived cells from bone marrow transplants. The purpose of this study primarily is to establish a transplant procedure, then test mice with MPS in order to determine the efficacy of the bone marrow transplant. Please note that this method does not come under genetic therapy. |
